DOST Isabela trains women in chili processing

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, May 6 (PIA) - The Department of Science and Technology - Provincial Science and Technology Center (DOST-PSTC) - Isabela has trained 23 Rural Improvement Club (RIC) members on chili processing in Benito Soliven, Isabela.

The hands-on technology training aims to empower and capacitate the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills on chili processing, as well as to introduce another possible source of income for its members.

Provincial Director Lucio G. Calimag said the DOST - Industrial Technology Development Institute has developed livelihood technologies in making chili sauce, pickled pepper and hot chili oil which will be shared to organizations or groups as their livelihood activities.

"We encourage you to finish the training and apply what you have learned to earn income for and your family," Calimag said.

He assured that the DOST will remain committed in providing science and technology services to the public even in the remotest places in the province.

Meanwhile, Paola Reyes, project assistant of PSTC Isabela, said that the training was also an opportunity for the trainees to be taught on proper food handling and safety to ensure that foods that are produced are safe and suitable for consumption. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
