"Why is US President Trump not stopping the war?": Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Israel-Iran war

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 15 (ANI): Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut urged that the war between Israel and Iran should stop. He questioned US President Donald Trump for interfering between India and Pakistan, while not mediating between Israel and Iran.

Sanjay Raut said, 'Such a war is going on, when I watch images, I get scared and I feel pity for the dead. Israel and Iran are both nuclear states. Why is US President Trump not stopping the war? The way President Donald Trump forced India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop the war in the name of trade, and is saying repeatedly that the war would have been harmful, as both (India and Pakistan) have nuclear weapons...'

He added, 'Both Israel and Iran have nuclear weapons, and they've started using them. Neither the Iranian President (Masoud Pezeshkian) nor the Israeli PM, Netanyahu, is ready to listen. Both nations say that they are fighting for their dignity, so we also started a war against terrorism. Why did President Trump stop our war? And why did we back off under Trump's pressure?'

'The war between Israel and Iran should stop,' Raut told the reporters on Sunday.

Questioning PM Modi's foreign visits, he said, 'PM Modi's war was stopped by Trump. How come Modi can stop a war? Now, PM Modi is going to Canada, Cyprus, and Croatia, where he will give speeches.'

Talking about the Thackeray family's contribution in Mumbai, he said that PM Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cannot beat the Thackeray brand.

'Modi-Shah or Fadnavis cannot beat the Thackeray brand in Mumbai...People respect Balasaheb Thackeray's family. The sacrifice and struggle the Thackeray family has done for 'Marathi manus' and Maharashtra is incomparable,' he said.

Meanwhile, MP Raut's statement on the Air India plane crash created a row. On Saturday, he raised questions about possible sabotage in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, which killed 241 people. He asked whether there was any cyber-attack on the system of the plane by any enemy country, as they try to target India's military installations with their cyber-attacks.

'I am not an expert, but there are serious questions about sabotage in the Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad within 30 seconds of takeoff. Was there any cyber-attack on the system of the plane by any enemy country, as they try to target our military installations with their cyber-attacks?' Raut said in a press conference.

Reacting to Raut's statement, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, 'Not every issue should be politicised. Sometimes, we must rise above politics and act with human sensibilities, and I would request the same from Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. It was a very unfortunate event, and every member of the nation is praying for the departed souls.' (ANI)
